It’s been eleven years (11!) since I last posted on my blog. Now is the time for a long overview update. I am currently between deadlines, my wife is holidaying overseas and it’s a Friday. So let’s get into it.
My work schedule and graphic design practice has changed, improved and adapted since 2013. Envisage is now applying the following technologies:
- All of my design studio gear runs on Apple Silicon
- Ai (Artificial Intelligence) is utilised almost daily in the Adobe Suite and Chat GPT
- Offline & Online security best practice
- Refined and improved design production process
I have been in the freelance digital design business for 30 years now, and have seen a tonne of changes in the industry. That being said, good design is, well, good design. Sure, the way I create good design has changed since my last post. However, applied design has cutting edge requirements. It needs to be very relevant to the now.
The client and needs of their audience always come first. My job is to distill those requirements to then deliver the best result by way of design and information exchange. Let’s look at what successfully meets those requirements in 2024:
- Budget (a comfortable fit)
- Speed (time to market)
- Process (knowledge)
- Technology (compatibly)
It is easy to become complacent in any career after 30 years. What keeps me motivated? I am lucky to be supported by a loving family. I have a faithful dog. I am financially independent. My interests are varied and wide. I find profound insiration in emerging technologies. I live to consistany endevour in searching for our reasons of a meaningful life.
So there you have it. My long overdue post on where I am current at.
